Effective date: 20 October 2026
- Everything you enter in Bunkly is stored only on your device.
- There are no accounts, and we run no server that receives your data.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects device identifiers as described below.
- Crash reports are optional and contain no data you entered.
- We never sell your data.
Bunkly (“the app”) is published by Sunil Maurya (“we”, “us”, “our”). Bunkly helps college students track class attendance and see exactly how many classes they can skip, or must attend, to stay above their college's minimum. It works offline and keeps your data on your phone. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
1. Information you enter
The app stores the following only in its private storage on your device:
- Subjects you add (name, optional code, type and colour)
- Your weekly timetable (days, class times and optional room)
- Attendance marks for each class (present, absent, cancelled, holiday or medical) and any notes you add
- Your settings, such as target percentage, buffer, reminder time and language
- An optional profile: name, course, semester and college or campus
We, the developer, never receive, transmit or have access to this information.
2. Information we do not collect
- Accounts, passwords or roll numbers (the app has no accounts)
- Your precise location, contacts, photos, messages or files
- Your attendance, timetable or profile on any server of ours (we have none)
3. Third-party services
The app uses the following services from Google. They process data under their own privacy policies; we receive only the aggregated reports they provide.
Google AdMob (advertising). Bunkly shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve, measure and protect ads, AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID and other device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, and information about how you interact with ads, as well as app performance and diagnostic data. In the European Economic Area, the UK and other regions where it is required, the app asks for your consent through Google’s consent form before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice at any time from the app’s settings (“Ad choices”); without consent, ads are not personalised. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports). If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics may send us a crash report containing technical details (the error, device model, Android version, app version and a Firebase installation identifier). Crash reports never contain what you entered in the app. Crash reporting is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in the app’s settings (“Send crash reports”). See Firebase privacy information.
Firebase Remote Config (app settings). The app downloads a small configuration file from Firebase Remote Config (for example, updated reference lists). Doing so uses a Firebase installation identifier and sends no information you entered. If it is unavailable, the app uses a copy built into the app.
4. Device permissions
- Notifications: to show the evening reminder to mark attendance and alerts when a subject drops below your target. Requested on Android 13 and later; you can turn both off in Settings.
- Run at startup: to restore your scheduled reminder after the phone restarts.
- Internet: for ads, optional Google Drive backup, crash reports and downloading typical college attendance rules. Everything else works offline.
- Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob to show ads, as described below.
You can revoke permissions in your device settings. Related features may stop working if you do.
5. Storage, backups and exports
Your data stays in the app’s private storage on your device.
Android device backup. If Android’s backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include Bunkly’s database in your device’s backup so it can be restored on a new phone. This is controlled by your device settings and Google’s terms; we never receive it.
Files you export. When you choose to export a backup file or a report, the app creates the file on your device and opens Android’s share sheet. The file goes only to the destination you pick. When you restore a backup file, it is read on your device only.
Google Drive backup (optional). If you tap “Back up to Google Drive”, you sign in with Google and grant access to the app’s own hidden folder in your Drive (the drive.appdata permission). The app can read and write only its own backup file there; it cannot see your other Drive files. Backups happen only when you tap the button. The backup is stored in your Google account, not with us, and we do not receive your Google account details. You can remove the backup and the app’s access from your Google Account’s third-party connections page.
6. How information is used
Information you enter is used only to provide the app’s features on your device. Data collected by Google AdMob is used to show and measure ads. Crash reports are used only to find and fix bugs.
7. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent or share your information. What you enter leaves your device only when you export, share or back it up yourself. The third-party services above receive only the data described in their sections.
8. Children
Bunkly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Settings → Delete all my data erases every subject, timetable entry, attendance mark and setting on the device and cancels reminders. Uninstalling the app also removes everything stored on the device. Copies you exported yourself, or that are part of your Google account’s backups, are controlled by you and by your Google account settings.
10. Security
Data is kept in the app’s private, sandboxed storage provided by Android, and every network connection the app makes uses encryption (HTTPS). No method of storage is completely secure, so we recommend protecting your device with a screen lock.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the EU/UK GDPR, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to withdraw consent. Because your app data stays on your device, you can exercise most of these directly in the app. For anything else, including data held by the services above, contact us and we will help.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the app’s handling of information changes, and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here before the app version that introduces them is released.
13. Contact and grievances
For questions, requests or complaints about privacy, contact Sunil Maurya at sunilmaurya227@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 7 days.
